DETAILED ITINERARY

At 8:30 AM, our driver-guide will pick you up from the hotel. The first stop will be:

  • 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Kigali Genocide Memorial. Begin your day with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, an essential site for understanding Rwanda’s recent history. The memorial offers an insightful and somber look at the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, featuring exhibits, survivor testimonies, and a memorial garden.
  • 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM: Ntarama Church Genocide Memorial. At Ntarama Church, thousands of Tutsis who sought refuge were brutally murdered by Hutu extremists. Once a sanctuary, the church became a site of massacre where attackers used machetes, guns, and grenades. Today, it stands as a memorial to the victims and serves as a stark reminder of the violence.
  • 1:15 PM – 2:00 PM: Nyamata Church Genocide Memorial. The Nyamata Church Genocide Memorial commemorates victims of the Rwandan Genocide. In April 1994, thousands of Tutsis sought refuge here, only to be attacked and killed by Hutu extremists. The site is preserved as a memorial and museum, honoring the victims and educating visitors about the genocide’s horrors.
  • 2:15 PM – 3:30 PM: Lunch and Break. After a meal and a short break, you will continue to the Bugesera Reconciliation Village. Located near Nyamata, this village is designed to foster healing and reconciliation among survivors and former perpetrators of the genocide. It promotes unity and rebuilding relationships through economic development, education, and psychological support.
  • 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM: Campaign Against Genocide in the Rwandan Parliament. This campaign involves legislative, educational, and supportive measures to combat genocide denial and foster reconciliation. Rwandan lawmakers have enacted laws against denial and hate speech, supported public education, and developed programs for survivors and their families, aiming to preserve the memory of victims and promote healing and unity.
  • 5:15 PM – 5:45 PM: Drive Back to the Hotel. The guide will then drive you back to the hotel, where you can rest after a long and intense day.
